Northwind Commerce
A headless storefront for a luxury fashion label. I crafted a cinematic browsing experience with buttery transitions and a checkout that converts.

Northwind sells objects you want to touch before you buy. Translating that tactile, high-end feeling into a screen — without sacrificing the speed that keeps a checkout alive — was the entire job.
The challenge
Their previous storefront was beautiful in stills and frustrating in motion. Transitions janked, images popped in late, and the mobile checkout leaked customers at every step. For a luxury label, a clumsy interaction reads as a clumsy product.
The approach
I treated the storefront like a flagship product, not a template.
- Cinematic, restrained motion. Considered transitions between collection, product, and cart — never decorative, always orienting.
- Image discipline. Art-directed crops, modern formats, and a strict loading budget so nothing pops or shifts.
- A checkout that respects the buyer. Fewer steps, honest progress, and accessible by default — keyboard, screen reader, and one-handed on mobile.
Our conversion numbers moved within the first month, and the site finally feels like the brand.
The outcome
Mobile conversion climbed 27%, cart abandonment fell across every market, and the storefront holds a 98 Lighthouse score on the pages that matter most. The experience now matches the price tag on the products.
