Monogram Banking
The web experience for a challenger bank. I led the migration to a modern stack and rebuilt the core money-movement flows with accessibility at the center.
- +34%
- Task success
- AA
- WCAG compliant
Monogram is a challenger bank, and challenger banks are judged in seconds. People trust an institution with their money based, in part, on whether moving it feels effortless. That feeling was my remit.
The challenge
A legacy stack was slowing every release, and the core money-movement flows — the ones people actually use — were dense and hard to navigate, especially for anyone relying on assistive technology. In banking, an inaccessible flow isn't just bad UX; it's a liability.
The approach
Modernise the foundation, then rebuild the moments that matter.
- A measured migration. I led the move to a modern stack incrementally, so the product never stopped shipping.
- Money flows, reconsidered. Clearer steps, honest confirmations, and fewer ways to make a costly mistake.
- Accessibility at the centre. Designed and tested against WCAG AA from the start, not bolted on at the end.
Task success on our key flows jumped, and we passed the audit without a scramble.
The outcome
Task success on core flows improved 34%, the product passed a full WCAG AA audit, and the new foundation made every subsequent release faster. Moving money finally feels like a non-event — which, for a bank, is the highest compliment.
